• On December 1st, 2021, the Supreme Court were presented arguments on a challenge to a Mississippi law that bans almost all abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy.

  • The case, Dobbs v. Jackson, addresses whether there is a constitutional argument of the state of Mississippi’s ban on nearly all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy

There are exceptions for medical emergencies or for “a severe fetal abnormality,” but not for rape or incest.

  • Attacks on abortion rights in the past 20 years is nothing new.

But with a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court and arguments/quotes from the Dec 1st hearing from Supreme Court justices, it may be likely that the protections for abortions that was set by Roe V Wade may be overturned and nearly 30 states in the US will enforce abortion bans similar to Mississippi and as extreme as Texas's recent abortion ban.

But we will not stand for it.

  • Abortion rights, the right to choose, contraception access, etc will ultimately always be available in some way for cis-white women. But for Trans Women, Women of Color, Black Women, low-income women, Disabled Women and anyone with a uterus that is non-cis/non-white, they cannot say the same

and it’s our job to protect the most marginalized of bodies. Attacks on marginalized folks is a public health issue, a social justice issue and is ultimately just plain wrong.

So let’s get to work. Because it is always “my uterus, my choice”
